Dior Resort Menswear 2021 is a continuous triumph of Kim Jones talent. This collection was no different, with a blend of street and traditional luxury craftmanship.

As menswear continues to be a growing market, every luxury brand is ramping up its menswear focus. Some brands hit the mark and others fall a little short... LV's recent show can hold testosterone to that fact, but a brand that has been on the up and a darling among luxury consumers and collectors is Dior. With Kim Jones at the helm, it has flourished, and with the announcement of Kim joining Fendi there were concerns Jones would jump ship. However, under the LVMH umbrella, Jones has been able to hold both positions.

The Goods

With the Dior Resort release, it showcases the brand's power. Amid a global pandemic, Jones and his team have created another unparalleled collection. This collection is slightly more pared back than a full Dior runway with all the bells and whistles, but it still holds all the trademarks of a Jones collection. A strong influx of streetwear silhouettes paired with luxury craftsmanship. Decadent knits detailing geometric prints, experiments with the form of anoraks and parkas, and matching sets of camp shirts and shorts. The notable Dior Oblique pattern was heavily featured and while I'm not a fan of beating a dead horse, Jones did revive the overused print in matching vibrant blue sets. Hopefully, that will be one play Dior will lay to rest after 2020.

The overall vibe

The overall feel was street heavy, bucket hats, thigh-high socks and oversized knee-length shorts. Jones pared back the street feel with more recognisable preppy elements. Leather loafers, mid-thigh fitted shorts and structured tailored pants. The winning look was reserved for last, a beautiful matching shirt and pant set in the sapphire Dior Oblique pattern. Paired with a loosely structured short trench, a classic look reinvigorated with all the Jones hallmarks.
